Medbuza is a social network for licensed doctors and provides a means for non-doctors to get answers to medical questions from doctors via mobile, web or SMS. Users ask health-related questions (within 150 characters) and keywords in the questions are mapped to related medical specialties. The doctors on the platform provide answers to these questions. Doctors can choose to answer questions based on their specialty or to answer general health questions. Fellow doctors can comment on answered questions and/or validate the answers provided using the ‘validate’ button. This allows for peer review of some sorts. Doctors’ activities on Medbuza are 'gamified'. This is especially important as it serves to drive user engagement. Medbuza will be developed as a mobile and web application fully integrated with USSD and SMS short codes. These technologies will provide an easier and cheaper connection to doctors on our platform.
